Mark Sloan, MD, MPH

    Dr. Mark Sloan is passionate about child health and medical education. He has been a pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics for more than 30 years. He trained at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and the University of Michigan, before joining Kaiser Permanente in 1982 where he practiced until 2014. Dr. Sloan received a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Minnesota in 2015. Dr. Sloan is also a writer. His book, Birth Day: A Pediatrician Explores the Science, the History, and the Wonder of Childbirth, was a 2010 Northern California Book Awards finalist. In addition, he has published articles and essays in a number of newspapers and magazines. Dr. Sloan teaches pediatrics and reflective writing for the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency program. He and his wife Elisabeth live in Santa Rosa and have two grown children.  After a quarter-century in Sonoma County, they’re still finding new places to explore on foot, bike and in their trusty Subaru!
