MSW Internship

Petaluma Health Center’s MSW Internship Program is an evidence-based mentorship program specific to Masters of Social Work students seeking field experience in an integrated healthcare setting, working with individuals, families and groups in various clinical departments.

Program Benefits

Interns will gain valuable, hands-on experience with rotations in Intake, Integrated Case Management, Recovery Services, Child & Youth Services, Psychiatry and Wellness.

Collaborative & Integrated Learning

Gain hands-on experience in an integrated, interdisciplinary practice environment through cohort-based didactic sessions and participation in learning communities designed to strengthen your collaborative care skills.

Learning through Quality Improvement

Engage in a structured practicum focused on performance and quality improvement, where you develop practical, real-world skills while contributing to meaningful healthcare outcomes.

Personalized Mentorship

Benefit from structured one-on-one mentorship with consistent mentors throughout rotations, with the option to transition to a new mentor in Year 2 to support ongoing professional growth.

Peer Support Program

Participate in group sessions with mentors and peers for reflection, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, fostering a supportive learning environment within a broader community of practice.

About Our Internship Program

Our Master of Social Work (MSW) Intern Program provides graduate students with hands-on training and mentorship in a supportive healthcare setting. Interns gain real-world experience working alongside experienced clinicians, developing the skills needed to deliver compassionate, culturally responsive care. This program not only prepares future social workers for meaningful careers in mental health and community care but also expands our capacity to serve patients and families with empathy and excellence.
We provide an evidence-based mentorship program in an integrated healthcare setting, working with individuals, families and groups in various clinical departments. Interns will gain valuable, hands-on experience with rotations in Intake, Integrated Case Management, Recovery Services, Child & Youth Services, Psychiatry and Wellness.

Internships run from August through may with some flexibility depending on student’s specific internship program requirements.

  • Open to MSW students, 2nd year students preferred
  • Generous Stipend for interns

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
