Rob Tomaszewski is sound designer/supervisor for popular dinner theater and circus Teatro ZinZanni and Petaluma Health Center Board Member.
Wanting to “put down roots” and to “do something that gets away from entertainment, as well as helping those who are underserved,” led Tomaszewski to volunteer at the Petaluma Health Center nine years ago, where he later joined the board.
“We work on planning and fund-raising and worked for five years to come up with a new building that houses all the different services PHC offers under one roof,” he says. “We are creating a patient center, a medical home center for healthy living that offers preventative care and are fostering a partnership in our patients’ health. We offer healthy eating programs, teaching kitchens, pain management, diabetes care and even dental services to everyone, but especially to those who are underserved.”
Tomaszewski says, “I hope that I would inspire other people to get involved in the community, because it’s so rewarding to see the fruits of your labor. We’ve become a national model, part of the President’s Health Care Initiative. It’s a great way to make a difference!”
