Dr. Carter joined Petaluma Health Center in 2022. She completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at UC Berkeley and her Master of Public Health at UCLA. Her undergraduate career, being disrupted by Hurricane Katrina, was uniquely split between Tulane University in New Orleans, University of Oregon, and University of San Diego. She was inducted as a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society and in 2022 she was recognized by the California Optometric Association with a COA Young Advocate Award.
Dr. Carter is thrilled to be seeing patients at a Federally Qualified Health Center and to be providing comprehensive eye care to the communities of Sonoma County. Her professional and personal interests involve supporting underserved populations, near and far. She completed a portion of her clinical training with Indian Health Services in Montana, and has volunteered at health clinics in Southeast Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean. She loves traveling and has seen countries on six continents, and even lived in Australia for a year.
Dr. Carter grew up in Ukiah, CA and loves living in the East Bay now with her husband and two cats.
